Business Application Manager (f/m/d), 100%

To drive our continuous organic growth, we are constantly looking for highly qualified professionals. To strengthen our team in Global IT department, we are looking for a dedicated Business Application Manager (f/m/d), 100%.

As a Business Application Manager within Bachem's Central Functions IT team, you will act as a trusted partner to the business, ensuring the smooth operation, continuous improvement, and future readiness of central functions applications. In this versatile role, you will maintain and enhance existing solutions, coordinate rollout or change initiatives, and ensure the successful introduction of new digital capabilities. Through close, proactive collaboration with business stakeholders, you will translate needs into actionable solutions, drive process improvements, and help shape the digital roadmap. This position combines hands-on application ownership with true business partnership—ideal for someone who enjoys technical work while enabling impactful, business-driven change.

Your tasks:

Business Partnership & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a trusted partner to central business functions, understanding their processes and identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Analyze user needs and translate them into actionable application enhancements or new solutions.
  • Provide user support, training, documentation, and guidance to key stakeholders.
  • Promote best practices and help drive adoption of new functionalities or applications.

Application Management & Support

  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned business applications, ensuring reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage application maintenance activities such as updates, configurations, lifecycle planning, and user administration.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, collaborating with internal experts and external vendors as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, security, and (where applicable) GxP requirements.

Enhancements, Rollouts & Projects

  • Drive the delivery of initiatives—ranging from feature enhancements and functional extensions to targeted application rollouts—ensuring they meet business needs and improve day-to-day usability.
  • Lead, coordinate & support the introduction of new applications by gathering requirements, preparing system configurations, coordinating testing and managing go-live activities.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to ensure all changes are well-aligned with operational needs and deliver tangible value.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain clear documentation and ensure application processes follow Bachem's IT governance frameworks.
  • Monitor technology trends and propose improvements that enhance efficiency, digital maturity, or user experience.
  • Contribute to broader IT improvement initiatives within the Central Functions IT team.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Several years of proven experience in application management, business systems support or technical consulting.
  • Experience in regulated or life-science environments (GxP understanding beneficial).
  • Solid understanding of application lifecycle management, configuration, and integration concepts.
  • Strong communication skills and ease in interacting with stakeholders across business and IT in a global, multicultural environment.
  • Strong hands-on project management skills
  • Experience working with external vendors and solution providers.
  • Ability to translate business needs into functional system solutions.
  • Analytical mindset with a structured, solution-oriented way of working.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and enthusiasm for improving processes and systems.
  • Fluency in English required; German is a plus
