Our client, a leading international financial institution based in Basel, is expanding its newly established Data Office and is seeking a Data Governance Analyst (m/f/d) for an immediate start.
This is an initial 2-year contract with the possibility of extension and potential conversion to a permanent position, subject to business requirements and performance.

Description
The selected candidate helps drive enterprise-wide data governance, data quality and data management initiatives, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to maximise the value of data across the organisation through the following key responsibilities:
Collaborates with data stewards, business stakeholders and technical teams to address data-related challenges and support solution implementation
Supports the development and adoption of data governance frameworks, policies and standards aligned with organisational objectives
Contributes to data quality initiatives by identifying gaps, recommending improvements and tracking remediation efforts
Performs data analysis to identify trends, inconsistencies and improvement opportunities, and prepares reports and dashboards for stakeholders
Coordinates data-related initiatives, including data cleansing activities, process enhancements and tool implementations
Maintains and updates documentation of data processes, workflows and best practices.
Supports the preparation of management reporting and data-driven insights
Identifies data management risks and recommends appropriate mitigation measures
Utilises digital tools and automation to improve data governance, management and quality practices
Keeps abreast of emerging technologies, industry standards and best practices in data management and governance
Profile
In order to be considered for the role, the ideal candidate must have:
Successfully completed bachelor's or master's degree in information management, computer science or a related field
Professional certification in data governance or data management (eg CMDB) preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Data Analytics, or a similar field, ideally within Financial Services or another highly regulated environment
Practical experience working as a Data Steward, Data Owner, Data Governance professional, or on data-focused consulting engagements
Solid understanding of Data Governance frameworks, Data Quality principles, and Data Management best practices
Very good writing skills in English
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across the organisation at all levels
Excellent team player
