In 2024, Swissport International AG provided best-in-class airport ground services for some 247 million airline passengers (2023: 232 million) and handled roughly 5 million tons of air freight (2023: 4.7 million) at 117 air cargo centers worldwide. Several of its warehouses have been certified for pharmaceutical logistics by IATA’s CEIV Pharma and by the British MHRA. At the end of December 2024, the world's leader in airport ground services and air cargo handling, with currently around 60,000 employees, was active at 276 airports in 45 countries on six continents.

SAFETY MANAGER (M/W/D)

YOUR MISSION
This role promotes and strengthens a sustainable Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) culture across the station. It ensures compliance with safety regulations, supports risk management processes, and drives continuous improvement in operational safety. By advising management and engaging employees, this role contributes to creating a safe, responsible, and high-performing working environment.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Act as the main point of contact for all HSE-related topics within the station and support the development of a strong safety culture.
    • Facilitate the HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) process and ensure high-quality risk assessments and mitigation measures.
    • Plan, prepare, and conduct regular internal HSE audits as well as reviews of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and LOPs (Local Operating Procedures), including follow-up on corrective actions.
    • Monitor, analyse, and report HSE performance indicators to station management and support improvement campaigns and action plans.
    • Lead and support incident investigations, analyse unsafe acts, near misses, and working-at-height risks, and recommend continuous improvement measures.  

 

YOUR PROFILE

    • Technical education (CFC, technical diploma, or equivalent) with additional training in occupational health and safety; certification such as SUVA is a plus.
    • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or Safety Manager in a comparable operational environment, ideally within aviation.
    • Knowledge of occupational safety regulations, familiarity with aviation safety standards or regulations (e.g., IATA, EU, EASA) would be considered an asset.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, advise, and collaborate with management and operational teams.
    • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken); German is an advantage.
