Oryx Energies is one of the largest and longest-established independent suppliers of oil and gas products and services in sub-Saharan Africa. We purchase, store, and distribute petroleum and gas products that meet the needs of individuals, businesses, and industrial and maritime stakeholders in the region.The incumbent will be mainly responsible for the daily and monthly booking of accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries into JD Edwards. He will be responsible to develop and promote accounting tools and processes in order to provide best practices in term of working efficiency and in term of bookkeeping and compliance with local (CO) and international (IFRS) standards. He might have to work for different entities within Oryx Energies group, such as Nyala Shipping SA or another affiliate as required.Senior AccountantJoin a dynamic international team where your expertise will directly contribute to shaping our financial strength.Main responsibilities:Daily general ledger entries and booking of invoices into AP/AR.Prepare payments, booking of bank movements and bank reconciliations.Prepare payments, booking of bank movements and bank reconciliations.Perform monthly SOFTMAR/JDE reconciliation.Intercompany reconciliations. Needs to be able to analyze intercompany differences and liaising with operators, traders, and affiliates in order to reach mutual agreement over disputed itemsEnsure monthly, quarterly and annual closure of the accounts to a professional standard, regarding speed, accuracy and documentation of closure. Preparation of statutory Financial Statements of Nyala Shipping SA and other recently created Swiss Holding companies.Comply timely & correctly with VAT and other tax filing requirements by studying regulations; adhering to requirements; calculating monthly estimated tax payments; assembling data for annual tax filings.Identify & implement with IT potential development allowing more efficiency in accounting & controlling.Utilise and maintain the JD Edwards General Ledger system in an efficient method, ensuring the computer systems utilise best practice within the oil industry, and in accordance with group policy and the relevant GAAP.Be able to proactively create new accounting processes and improve existing one.
