Underwriting Manager, Financial Lines Brooklyn

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity regime.
The Underwriting Manager, Financial Lines manages a team across Melbourne and Sydney. You will be leading product distribution and relationships across the professional lines products including commercial PI, Information Technology, Cyber, Management Liability and Financial Planners.

Operational Objectives

Overall portfolio management of the following business lines:

Team Performance reporting

Understand portfolio pricing, provide recommendations relevant to market cycles, performance and growth strategies.

Structured framework around new business quotations, renewals and policy maintenance while providing advice and technical support to senior staff in alignment to SoA capabilities.

Supervision and improvement of the online quotation system

Adherence to agreed Service Standards
*
Maintenance adherence to all Underwriting Guidelines
*
Reviewing all product wordings and collaboration with AXA XL IFL as to changes or improvements.

Ensure compliance with AXA XL corporate regulations and standards

Achieve annual Gross Written Premium target across all lines

Required Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree preferred with equivalent experience.

Possess a high and extensive level of technical knowledge and skills including product & industry.

Marketing - Effectively plan for sales and business development. Integrating the use of various techniques, tools, and information to support profitable business growth over a defined period.

Negotiation/Sales - Plan, structure and conduct negotiations with brokers and/or clients to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties.

Interpersonal Savvy - Build excellent interpersonal relationships with brokers, clients & colleagues with the intention of improving personal profile and reputation within Brooklyn Underwriting and AXA and the broader market.

Industry Knowledge - Understanding of the insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business.

Strategy/Planning
- Make underwriting decisions to fulfill the business strategic plan and deliver results. Has knowledge of the financial targets and levers to deliver on departmental business plan.

Visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze, and solve complex problems to make key business decisions.
